A credit note is issued to correct or cancel a finalized invoice — for example, if a customer returned goods or was overcharged.
When to issue a credit note
- Customer returned goods
- Invoice had wrong pricing
- Service was cancelled after invoicing
- Discount applied after the fact
How to create a credit note
1
Go to Sales → Invoices and open the invoice you need to correct.
2
Click Issue Credit Note at the top right.
3
Finova pre-fills the credit note with the original invoice items. Adjust the quantities or amounts as needed.
4
Add a reason for the credit note (e.g., 'Goods returned — damaged').
5
Click Save & Send to email the credit note to the customer.
Applying a credit note
You can apply the credit note against a future invoice or mark it as refunded if you return the cash to the customer. Both options are available in the credit note view.
âš ï¸Note: Credit notes do not automatically refund money — they are accounting entries. You must separately process the cash refund through your bank if needed.
